HOW TO CONDUCT A GOLF OUTING
Fundraising can sometimes be a hassle, but a necessary part of clubs and organizations. One easy way to put the “FUN” into fundraising is to host a golf outing. Alternatively, if your company would like to plan a day of outdoor fun for your employees and their families and friends, a golf outing might be your answer.
The Cambridge Country Club has designed a detailed outline for your business or organization to host golf outings at our 18-hole private facility. Please contact our Golf Professional, Alex Abernethy, at (740) 432-2107 with any questions you may have about golf outings and how your business or organization can benefit from them.
The following is a checklist of a suggested time schedule needed to organize and prepare for your event.
6 Months:
Choose a date that works for your business or organization.
Decide your profit goal and determine your costs.
Get sponsors.
Sponsors are a good way to invite the community to help with your fundraising goals. The sponsors can range anywhere from larger corporations to single or smaller companies and individuals. With a sponsorship, incentives based on dollar amounts can be anything from company names or logos on signs and shirts to prizes for skills during the course of play (such as longest putt, longest drive). Make a list of potential sponsors to be contacted and mail letters to them six months prior to your outing. Amounts can range from $5000 down to $100.
3 Months:
Mail letters to potential sponsors requesting donation monies giving them at least a month deadline to return them to you.
Meet with the golf professional.
Meet with the club’s service manager to decide a menu.
Sample menus are enclosed. Solicit quotes from printing companies for banners and signs with appropriate sponsorship names and logos for placement on tees and greens.
2 Months:
Make a list of all of your potential golfers.
Advertise in newspapers to attract other potential golfers.
The Cambridge Country Club can accommodate 96 golfers.
Forty to eighty golfers is an excellent sized outing. When players exceed 96, extra charges will apply. Remember, the majority of your profit comes from sponsor donations, NOT player fees.
